January Theme: Possibility
“So many things are possible just as long as you don’t know they’re impossible.”
Norton Juster, The Phantom Tollbooth
What does it mean to be people of Possibility?
As Unitarian Universalists possibility is most central to our faith. When many were preaching that this world was fallen, and people should look instead to the hope of an afterlife, we found ourselves falling in love with the possibility of heaven on earth.
As individuals, can we show up with our minds and hearts open to the possibilities of both stability and change? Both comfort and challenge? And what is possible as a community which is greater than the sum of our parts?
Can we examine what we thought was impossible?
